IVAN H. MOYER HONORED
Andrew Brunner, current Board Chairman, presented an engraved plaque to Ivan Moyer for his 32 years of outstanding service to Quakertown Christian School. Ivan has been promoting excellence, in Christian education, through his faithful leadership and selfless service to Quakertown Christian School as an alumni, parent and board member.
Ivan Moyer is one of the current owners of Moyer’s Chicks, a 15,000 square foot facility located in Richland Township. The company, founded in 1946 by Ivan’s father Ernest Moyer, is among a small number of independent chicken hatcheries remaining within the United States. The company continues as a family owned and operated business today. Ivan, brother Leon, sister Eileen and brother-in-law Jeryl Knechel continue their commitment to the local community with an agricultural based business that ships chicks to many parts of the US and Canada.
In 1951, Ivan’s father was instrumental in establishing Rocky Ridge Mennonite School now known as Quakertown Christian School. The founding principles of commitment to their faith, being a good steward of resources and the giving of yourself to the community and others is a legacy that Ivan has fully embraced. Ivan’s passion for Christian education has and continues to motivate him to serve Quakertown Christian School in many capacities. He has served as Board Chairman, a Board member and as a member of the Building, Development, History, Nominating and Search committees at various times through out his 32 years of involvement. He is a strong promoter of preserving the history of the school so that future generations will have an appreciation for the foundation of faith that helped to create the school. Ivan was instrumental in the new construction of the main campus facility for Quakertown Christian School located on Paletown Road.
Ivan and his wife, Evelyn, have three children and seven grandchildren. He has served as Chairman for the Finance Committee of the Franconia Mennonite Conference and currently serves as a Board member for Christopher Dock High School. Ivan and his family are active members at Rocky Ridge Mennonite Church.
